And We Continue…

Filed Under (4th Grade Reading Group, Books, Reading Projects, Uncategorized) by Mrs. Northcutt on 05-05-2009 and tagged , ,

Hello again! We’re now in the midst of our annual CATS testing and it’s likely that you may need to do some of your posting from home since we won’t be having Reading class every day like we usually do.

I’m going to keep the intro short and sweet this week so that you can get to work! Choose one of the books that you have been reading as a part of this assignment to answer your questions.

Your comment this week needs to address the following:

  • What is the setting of the book? Please remember to include both WHERE and WHEN the story takes place. And the “when” needs to address the time period in which the story happens – not something like “morning” or “evening”.

  • Describe how the setting is important to the story. ”Where” or “when” a series of events occurs has an impact on what kind of things can or do happen. You can’t fly with a jet pack (yet), but people in Colonial America didn’t exactly have cars. See what I mean? So, I want you to describe a reason that the setting of YOUR book affects THAT story.

After you’ve posted your own comment, choose a classmate and ask them a question about what they wrote. Don’t forget to include the title of your book in your answer!

Alright, i’m not really sure how to descirbe this setting, so im just going to do the best i can… =D

This story takes place in North Carolina, sometime in Spring April 12-18.

This setting isn’t really important to the story… because there really isn’t much technology and it takes place in prestent day. The story is about a poor family, so there isn’t much technology.

i really should rephrase that last part… the story is about two kids that steal a dog, and then return it for the reward the owner gives. stealing a dog doesn’t require much technology. right?

The setting of my story A Crooked Kind of Perfect takes place in Michigan, in the present day. The setting is not as important as the characters in my book. The setting is not as important bacause the story could take place anywhere at any time.

The setting in my book, Diary of a wimpy kid is in middle school in present day. It is important because it is mainly where all of it happens and if it was taken out all it would be is, Once apon a time they were a boy named Greg Heffley. The End. And I would think that it would not get published.

The book “The House Of A Millon Pets” takes place at Ann Hogman’s house in Washington,Connecticut. The time is in present day.
The setting is not as important as the characters. In other words the story could happen at any place at anytime. The only technology is a incabater.
